Hand Towels

I could not figure out what to do with the kids' hand towels. The closet in their bathroom is filled with the bathroom stockpile of toiletries and there is no room for towels! The towel racks and shelves are filled with towels and the kids end up pulling all the hand towels out.

I had bought this item from a Home Decorators party at my friend Tika's house for $5 dollars or so. It really has not had a home and has just been sitting on my table upstairs. So I rolled the hand towels (no ribbons, Heather) and filled this tiered rack and voila!

Smoken Deal!!!!

I was at Target during my lunch hour last week because I had to return something. I can never go to Target and not look around....so I went out to the garden center and saw this cute little garden cart marked at $.62!!!

When I checked out, it came up as $9 and something cents. The original price was $39.99. I knew it was a total shot in the dark but I pointed to the tag and said that I thought they may have marked it because the handle may have been broken (turns out it was just missing the screws). And guess what? The gal changed the price to $.62!

This little cart works great in the playroom to hold books at the moment! Who knows what else I might use it for!!!!

Organization Makeover

I am always looking for new ideas for organizing my craft supplies. As much as I love organization stores, I do not love the prices. So I try to think outside of the box and find things that I can reuse that are not intended for organizing.

1) Can
2) Mod Podge (You Can Find @ Just About Any Craft Store)
3) Brush
4) Decorative Paper

I used an old coffee can but you can use just about anything. Formula cans work great too!

For the paper, I used a gift bag with a paisley pattern that I found at the dollar store awhile back. Scrapbook paper is ideal but I could not find any in my collection that I wanted to use.

1) Cut your paper to fit your can.
2) Apply a generous amount of Mod Podge to the back side of the paper and apply to your can.
3) Once you have your paper affixed to your can, apply a coat of Mod Podge on top of your paper to give it a sealed look.
4) Let dry and organize!

Recycling Idea

I found this idea from A Soft Place to Land (http://asoftplacetoland-kimba.blogspot.com/2009/05/re-use-it-jute-twine-vase.html) . It is a site that I frequent quite a bit and find all kinds of good projects to try.

Of course I decided to start this project around 8:00 p.m. so my store choices were limited. I could not find a twine that was similar in size at Dollar General (they only have super super thin twine) so I headed over to Lowes. I ended up getting some rope type twine because I was anxious to work on my project.

I used a blue vase that some flowers my husband had sent me for Mother's Day or Valentine's Day several years ago. I am not too keen on blue and had not used this one in some time.

I spent about three hours winding and hot gluing the twine around the vase. I used about two packs of glue sticks and have twine to spare. I have to say that this project was quite relaxing!

My husband thinks my vase belongs in a boat themed room. However, I think that with some nice dogwood branches like Kimba's, it will look nice in my craft room, which is quite the work in progress right now.
